PostSubject: Clear coating help   Mon Sep 24, 2012 9:36 pm

I need to spray the cars with clear but i have tamiya TS13 clear and while i thought of using it im worried that it may damage the decals as i have read bad things a bout it online and wanted to know what is the best clear coat that i can use that will not ruin the cars

I used the same Tamiya clear in my airbrush first to do light mist coats then went over the top to finish it with Zero paints clear you have to do light mist coats first or it will fry up the decals, Trent and Tristan use Debeers automotive clear but you have to be careful with it too and mist the first few coats, Patto recommends floor clear that you would get from bunnings as it does not fry decals and self levels but the down side is it won't be as glossy as an automotive clear, Patto names some of the floor clears on his instruction sheet that comes with the decals

I think my new clear may have sorta fried a bit the decals lol but paint wise i think its my best job yet. Thank you to John, Tristan and Trent for all the advice you guys have given me and i will try to keep improving to get better.
