Track up & running. I am still playing around with the standard 6 car powerbase & maybe hold off on cable & software hook-up until I manage to pick up a pit lane set.

About half the track is Sport & the other half reconditioned Classic Scalextric made up of 3x changeovers, 2x hairpin rad1, all other curves & turns are rad2

Layout was to get max track on a 3.6m length. Width ended up at 1.5m all cars are std at this point & the best time is 5.547sec. The two Lambos that came with the Digital Platinum set are by far the fastest & best handling cars. (Not overly fussed on the 888 Holden, has to be the worst std car I have Crying or Very sad Scalextric must have a deal with Ford! Think I'll have to put another magnet in it just to keep it on the track!)

I have been playing about with Pacer settings but think the computer hook up will make that part more realistic as the % speed setting on the std power base only really gives a mobile chicane & unless you put a car on each lane with no change over setting they always get tangled up at some point.

I have calibrated & set the controllers t 15% power to reduce lag & that seemed to equalise the different cars a bit. Not sure on the variation between the chips? Any comments on this & has anyone tried paralleling the power rectifiers with another set of 1Amp's ? I read a post on one of the sites where someone replaced them with 2 amp units but this should be easily done by just piggy backing another set & should then allow reliable use of a 21K motor?

Any comments or tips would be appreciated.
Cheers for now.
Len

Hi Len
Sound like a fun track, see if you can post some pics to show us your progress that would be excellent. As for the 21k issue, you will be able to run 21k motors Pioneer or Slotit with no issue as i know people with Scalextric Plastic track and magnatraction and not having an issue with blowing standard scaley chips and i also have scaley chips here with some 21000rpm motors. I would avoid adding more magnets than standard to the cars though as higher magnatraction will lead to more amps being drawn from the motor, or even better remove the magnet totally and get barely any current draw. Anyway i hope that helps.

John

Hi John,

Not sure what happend I did attach a pic but it didnt upload will try again now.

Ok? Having some dificulties getting the pic to upload, do you have to do anything other than point at the file in the box below? It is giving an error message & saying I only can add 0 kB ?

Hi Again John,

Seems like I might need a permission set as I have the upload showing as 0 kB ? Can you do anything on this setting?

PS: I have been eying out a Slotit Jim Hall Chaparral that has a 21K motor & an Evo6 chassis but with the need for more investment in track infrastructure a difficult budget decision as I already have 12 cars Very Happy .

Are you using the host an image button. I do as its much easier than uploading photos to another site and linking them here. As for the slot it car you like, after racing at a few places you might find it overpowered for your track, in instances like that i have seen guys put scalextric motors in their slotits and makes it a much more enjoyable drive
