| Long time racer, first time poster... Grew up on scalx, many holidays spent at the uncles basement 4lane track with my brothers. Now my boys are old enough (and the shed big enough) to crack open the wallet and invest.
Now I'm an impulsive kind of guy and decided the kids old rectangle spring trampoline frame would be a perfect scalx table. Done...
Two Bathurst sets, a lap counter/timer, fuel thingo and eBay raids later and my shed is the favourite play area for the boys.
In hindsight I should have gone digital but I love watching my boys racing with my old cars, they can't compete with the magetized newer cars but I enjoy the trip down memory lane.
So, hello there fellow slot tragics!
I currently only have a 14m two lane track but have enough track to go to 4lanes, just gotta work out the radius needed. Any help on disiphering the corners (R1, R2 etc) would be greatly appreciated!
Slot on! | |

| Hi Kaptain
Its still not too late to go digital if you wanted, plus you can run more than 2 lanes with digital also, but the down side to plastic track is once you start running four lanes besides the radius 1 and 2 curve scalextric make you also need to buy the radius 3 and 4 curve aswell which start to add up in cost but it all comes down to how far you want to go with your system, if you have never seen digital slotcars in person before i suggest coming to one of our racemeets to have a go and see what it has to offer over analog. The guys that race here are friendly and helpful and we encourage new racers. Let me know if you are interested and i will pm you the details and we can go from there. Not a bad post either for a first time poster

| Thx John, So I understand that analogue track is compatible with digital track? (Jesus hope so) Most of our newer cars are DPR, so that's easy, and I've seen the kits to convert non DPR cars, so I believe that's do-able, but I suppose my main worry is the kids...
The analogue track suits us at the moment- its easy for them to get the concept- 'my car- my lane' however, digital is definetly the future.
Thanks for the welcome, hope to see you all around the traps- | |

| No Worries Kaptain, yes analog track is the same you just need to add a digital powerbase, lane changer track and chips to cars, so everything you own now except your analog powerbase can be used if you decide to go digital. My 4 year old is now starting to work out the lane changing part and the good thing with digital is that it does not matter what lane your car is put on in you still always have control of your own car without someone else driving away with it. You are welcome to come see our track outside of racenights aswell, just need to contact me first to make sure i am home.
