Friday 3rd February 2023 Empty
PostSubject: Friday 3rd February 2023   Friday 3rd February 2023 EmptySun Feb 05, 2023 10:22 am

Very hot and humid night was had on Friday, with 11 drivers attending and stuck it out the whole night (at 11pm the Feels like temp was over 33 degrees and 90%+ humidity to go with it). The conditions did play a little part in the racing with the track grip way above what its normally like on most racenights which lead to alot of cars being edgy around the corners with most of our cars set to handle the conditions of the track for the cooler times of the year. Nascar started the night and was propbably the cleaner of the 2 classes in the grippy conditions. The Heats were fast and fairly clean. The B-Final considering it had alot of new racers involved was not too bad considering, yes there was a few punts and crashes but was pretty decent still otherwise. The A-Final started out epic for the first 30 to 40 laps but the front guys started to pull away in the last 20. John managed to backup his win from 2 weeks ago with another solid drive. 2nd place went to Sandman, who drove the Dupont Chevy to the limits but just fell short. And 3rd place went to Steve which should keep him at the top of the points after 2 rounds. 2nd Part of the night saw Porsche Cup, usually this class is very clean but the track grip just kept increasing throughout the night and it seemed to affect the Porsches's more. Everyone must be commended on how well they drove to get through the 2nd part of the night as clean as we could. Was awesome to see young Drew pickup the C-Final win, the B-Final was a challenge but everyone drove as best as they could. The A-Final reasonable with some mega battles going on up front. After a quiet start to the year it was great to see Dan S knock off his first win for 2023. Sandman who was near dead last mid race, recovered through the werid last portion of the race to snag 2nd and 3rd went to Chainsaw who did a ripper job in his Porsche all night to get the final podium. There is a few points to take out of the night but. 1 im pretty sure we wont see that amount of grip next fortnight, even if its hot again i will change track setup process to accomodate better. 2 Was awesome to have Eddie and young Drew join us in some fun and they look like being fast very soon, it was their first racemeet and did a stellar job. 3. Finally after years of issues when testing InCarPro, ICP V5 finally has addressed all the runnaway and stopping issues that were in the earlier versions that guys overseas never saw (or wanted to believe me about) Since being given a trial verion last year i had been hesitant to introduce it too quickly as once flashed we can never go back to Scalextric firmware. With the new version i slowly sttarted with just 1 chip per racemeet that was flashed and added until we could get to the point of running 6 cars at once with the ICP firmware in a full race, and that finally occured on Friday night. The race ran flawless so im finally happy with the new code and will introduce it into more cars here asap to get the joy of the 128bit throttle resolution (64bit standard), improved digital signal and analog mode removed so no more ID losses. Next racemeet will see the return of the V8's and GT3 2nd part of the night
