Awesome turnout on Friday night with 14 drivers on hand to take to an all 1/24 Slotworx night. V8's were up first and after qualifying was out of the way we got into the heats which were ok for our first hitout in the V8's for 2021 with Sandman and Ryan the best peformers during the heats to secure the front row of the A-Final. Its got to the point where not qualifying direct top 4 for the A-Final and trying to secure the final 2 spots via racing to a top 2 transfer via the C and B Finals has become very risky with A-Final quality drivers in the lower finals making it alot harder to do that. The A-Final was a bit of a weird one with Sandman having controller issues Ryan took charge of the lead and beside a breif few laps were John got by, he took the victory with a comfortable 6 sec margin over John followed in 3rd Place was Dan who was using his brand spanking new Slotworx V8 so was good to see his brand new car on the money straight away.
2nd part of the night saw the Slotworx Porsches come out to play, and going by qualifying where every driver gets the track to themselves for 2 hotlaps shows the intensity of how close the lap times, besides John who nailed a lap the following group of 6 or so drivers had the smallest margin covering positions. Lucky they only get 2 laps or it would even be closer lol. Anyway the heats were fantastic with some really close battles. The C and B Finals were not too bad, but the A-Final was probably a bit of a let down after the quality of the heats but on the brightside can only get better from here for the remainder of the year. Sandman got redemption from the dissapointment of the V8's to storm to a commanding victory after the completion of 60 laps. He was followed home in 2nd and his 2nd podium of the night was Dan who we all knew was gonna be a force this year and the results are now starting to show. 3rd Place went to Steve who did well to come out with a podium after a bit of a wild race, but is great to see his awesome looking Porsche back on the podium. For those wondering why i havent got a calendar up yet so far for this year was due to the uncertainty around covid and if it would play havoc with our year like it did last year. To make things more clear i will put out one for the remainder of the year within the next week so people can plan around it if they need to. And for anyone interested in seeing us stream again, unless things go backwards here in QLD with covid we will possibly look to bringing back the live feeds of our racemeets from next fortnight. Bring on next fortnight where we will have Round 2 of Slotworx V8's and Round 1 of the 1/32 Aussie Touring Cars
