Awesome night last week once again with 11 drivers taking to the track with some great racing. We saw some new faces and im fairly sure a first time winner also. The night began a bit late as poor Allan got stuck in a traffic jam coming down from the coast but to his credit and dedication he got here about 2 hours later than he normally would so he joined in just in time for the finals of the first class. The first class was the 1/32 Aussie Touring Cars which again is getting better everytime we race them as the gap between the slowest and fastest is closing fast. The heats saw alot of mixed results which made sorting the positions for the finals alot more challenging. But once the A-Final rolled around Sandman backed up his win from 2 weeks ago in what will probably be the last time we see him with the Scalextric XC body as he moves onto his new Skyline body for the next race with them. Steve who has been very consistent of late grabbed his first podium of the night coming home in 2nd place. 3rd place was grabbed in a Drag race to the line on the final lap by Sharon Douglas when she snuck by Ryan who was caught behind another car. Was probably the best A-Final i have seen with these 1/32 Plafit cars so far.
2nd Part of the night saw us bust out what is fast becoming the favorite class here at NBS with the 1/24 Lexan GT3 cars. While we go on about the classes we run here being close these were the last class added to our roster of cars and is the only class that basically allows us to have a bit more freedom when it comes to chassis choice and body types, though we still run the same motor, gear ratio and tyres. Compared to our other classes where we all run the same chassis ect the laptimes and how close they are between the cars is exceptional considering the lack of work we put into getting them up and running compared to the 1/32 cars we introduced a couple of months before 1/24 Lexan GT3's. During one of the heats alone a track marshall pointed out 3 cars from one of the heat races all did a 8.172 laptime all on the exact same lap of the race, and with 5 different chassis types in the field atm that is exceptional to see them so close and also showed in the results of the B and A-Finals which were both epic races, there is also a 6th chassis type also about to join the ranks with a couple of Slotfabrik builds in progress so that will be interesting to see them in action too. Back to the racing the heats were awesome in particular Heat 2 and 4 were fantastic. But the finals is where its at and after watching an epic B-Final with some hard luck stories of guys only just missing the 2 car transfer in the A-Final, well the A-Final did not dissapoint. Unfortunately for Sandman his race didnt start well with the Comm on his motor expiring leaving without his weapon for the race and after the restart of the race he did the best he could with one of the NBS loan cars. But the race was awesome with all 6 cars still being with a chance of winning coming up to the halfway mark 30 laps in, but unfortunately for Allan while he was leading after driving from the C-Final his body came loose and ended his race after such a fantastic recovery. so that left 5 guys to battle it out to the end and a battle it was. In the end Steve came through for what i think is his first victory at NBS with a fantastic drive with his brand new Porsche body. 2nd place went to Ryan adter he had an axle issue earlier in the night relegating him to a B-Final start a podium in the A-Final was a great effort. And probably the surprise packet of the night was Mick who was fast in qualifying, very fast in his heats and held his nerve to hold off John and Sandman to get his first podium at NBS. It so great to be seeing everyone here with a chance of winning with lots of different drivers over the past few racemeets sampling the spoils of the podium which is what we want as a club. And once again myself as the owner of the track is still left wondering when he will finally win an A-Final again lol. Next fortnight should be epic with 2 awesome classes in action with Slotworx Porsche kicking off the night and Lexan GT3 will be the 2nd class. Also too would like to thank Steve Dalton aswell for the donation of 2 mint Truspeed controllers.
